TVR tantastic day here in sunny Nunny
Discussion
Well, been working on the chim for the last 5 or 6 weekends ( and every spare mo!), with the trusty wixers help was getting to the stage of putting the car back on the ground so to speak, had to go to Halfords (as a last resort) in search of a copper washer for the brakes when this cerb pulls up. So naturally I introduce myself
and phil(wixer)
to this chap (midlandman). We got back my house start work again we hear a familiar noise in the adjoining road look over the fence to see a dark blue chim 400! like some sort of nutter
I shout over to this guy and introduce myself, turns out was visiting his girlfriend.
Get back to work on the car, midlandman (cerb 4.2 maroon?) arrives,
then I get a phone call from Tony M (tuscan formula red)to say he is on the way over, arrives 15 mins later with mad john ( orange cerb 4.5)
Steve and Dawn ( green cerb 4.2)
,Stuart(halcyon blue chim 4.0)
.
I then go to pick my wife up from work and follow a white pearl griff
towards Nuneaton(anyone on here?)
We finish my car take it for a test around the outskirts of town along Eastboro way and a chim
with only one headlight
was coming the other way!!!
Is this just a Nuneaton thing or has this happened elsewhere, eitherway it was good to see some like minded folk ...thanks!

Al,
All is well thanks got her back on the road last night. Changed the brakes for later 500 spec ones, new ventilated cross drilled discs, braided hoses, new callpiers (painted that sikly gold!). Had the top and bottom rear wishbones shot blasted, did them with POR15, then sprayed hammerite blue, new bushes fitted with the cerb spacer washers (TVR power were very helpful). Replaced the drop links, rubbers mountings, put on the later brackets and bushes, shot blasted the anti-roll bar.
Got hold of a free exhaust (with squashed ends!), put the original to one side, de-baffled the new one and put in straight thru pipes, although at present it is 12ins short (there's an opportunity!), wixer is acquiring some oversize stainless with peened ends (similar to an XK8's)should look good, sounds the db's at the mo!
Did the chassis nd exhaust mounting plate (shot blasted....)with POR15, all put back together with loads of new bolts, all new washers and nuts, and copperslip were appropriate.
Also replaced the fuel pump bracket, and phil cleaned up the connections!
It feels much firmer now, Adrien Venn had done the fronts last year so all sorted now...just want some nitrons!
Phil,
Gave her a good road test all appears to be fine, picked up some of those copper washers off Dom today.
I am the RO what do you mean?
You are welcome to the chilli (and the
) you earned it!
Flipflop,
At first I thought it was you pair...but it was sunny and this couple had the roof on...and his misses hadn't got a silly hat on!!
Al, what have you got then...have you thought about the takara 5.3 upgrade? would suit you sir!

smuggling sam,
Thanks for this, yeah I know Dave can get them at a keen price too, especially if he can get a few takers.
I will also be paying him a visit to set up the handling, as this is now required post the work that has just been done.
I guess I will over with phill (wixer) later this week to see how his 500 upgrade is progressing ....and sample some of Andreas fantastic tea!
(couldn't find one for tea!)

Big thanks to Steve & Phil for coming over and introducing themselves .... even if it was outside Halfords.
Nice to meet fellow TVR owners anyway, but wasn't expecting the TVR take over that followed later that day.
Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome !!
And thanks to your daughter for the tea Steve !!
I only bought the car in January, after finally taking the plunge for a car I have wanted for years but due to the old 'TVR reliability stories', always decided against it ..... RATHER PLEASED !!
It is my only car and I use it everyday to go to and from work (Solihull) and so far only 1 or 2 very minor things like the windows and a small leak somewhere .... oh and the boot that wouldn't open .... and the pothole that killed my front rim & tyre ...... but well worth the smile that I have had on my face for the last few months.
Thing is ... althought the car is pretty quick it always takes me longer to get anywhere than before, as I always seem to take the long way round !!
Am currently looking at wheels due to the aforementioned pothole, and although the 18" Spiders are looking favourite, am also looking for things a bit different .... so if anyone knows of any wheels that you can fit to a 4.2 late 97 Cerb let me know !!
Cheers all
Paul

Just seen this, showed it to Sam (daughter ala Mrs Doyle!), and it has made her night.... fame at last!
You are more than welcome to the WarksTVR group!
Just to let you know got the chim MOT'd today, at Windsor Garage, Coventry the guy was very knowledgeable about TVR's probably something to do with the fact that one of the owners has a 4.5 LW cerb...and it passed!!
