Chassis Protection after Powder coating

Hi All

I'm sure this has been covered many times, but I can't find anything using the search function.

I have just about finished putting my chassis back together after being shot blasted and then powder coated. Before I put the body back on, I'm thinking of adding a bit more protection to the areas more vulnerable from stone chips and areas I won't be able to reach as easily with the body on.

I see that I have three options:

Option One - do nothing

Option Two - use some kind of waxoil, or dinitrol product to cover the areas, ideally though I want to be able to seee the colour of the powder coating and not cover it in gunk again. I thought about using the ACF50 product, but not sure how permanent this will be. Are there any other clear coating products available?

Option Three - I coat the chassis with some kind of paint, I thought about one of the PO15 products, either Whitecote or Glisten PC, the issue with using these is that they both require the chassis to be prepped. As you can imagine, I don't really want to use sandpaper on the new powder coating. Might this option have a negative effect on the protection that I'm trying to achieve?

I'm sure a number of you have been in the same situation, I would be grateful if you could let me know what you have done.

Epoxy pitch works well. It's much tougher than waxoil and underseals, and it doesn't dry out and crack. Sit down before you ask the price though...

I would say leave it. My car had the chassis totally redone in 2004 and is still perfect with just the original powdercoating. Modern powdercoating will be much better from what i have heard of the standard TVR stuff, and it makes it look a lot nicer underneath

Also from a buyers perspective i think it would be a lot better, after hearing of someone buying a seemingly solid car, but finding filler underneath the waxoil on the chassis!

Hmm depends are you going to use the car in all weather conditions ?, I would be tempted to leave as is, could put hammerite stonechip paint on the impact areas before the body goes on ?, let us know what you do in the end
