100 amp fuse modification...Help please!

Hi again all

No matter what i do i still worry when driving my Sag that that stupid hidden 100 amp fuse under airbox will pop when under load (throttle) as my T350 popped 2 fuses causing AA to collect me both time just cause that fuse pops under load. Easy to replace when home but not stuck on side of road! Its game over!!

Now i did hear/read sometime between TVRs that there is a mod to get that fuse up under hood so if it does pop you just replace it very easily and then get on ya way again. If i remember the mod was to change it to a blade fuse and fuse holder making life a million times easeir and me not having to worry when trying to enjoy driving my pride and joy, but just worrying that the fuse will pop and game over , AGAIN!!!!

Any ideas any1 would be really appreciated so i can get on and stop worrying! Silly i know! But i do....

Just replace with a 125 amp midi fuse in same holder. Job done

Right ok, sorry to be thick but simply replace the 100 amp fuse already fitted with the 125 amp midi fuse into the same holder and worries over? I assume the 100 amp fuse simply isnt man enough for the job, am i right? Sounds like a plan to me!!!

Does the midi fuse slot straight into the same place as the standard 100 amp then with no mods?

PS. Have sent you a few manual requests so when you have some more id love to buy one!!!! Ive heard they are highly reccomended.

Stop worrying. Mine has never failed on road or track, in cold or hot, flat out on the autobahn or queueing in London in a hailstorm.

I carry a spare as I know this is a common fault, doens't mean it will happen.

This 100/125amp fuse is running across a couple of threads. Some responses say it needs a different fuse holder, others say it is a straight replacement. Which is the correct answer.

It also seems to be located in diferrent places in differenet models - would somebody be as kind as to tell me where it is in a T350, not stated in the manual. many thanks

I will try and take you some pics to show where I have had mine moved to on the inner wing.

I have also had the one next to the battery moved.

LeeT350C - that would be really helpful and most appreciated. Are you also saying that there are 2 100amp fuses to be uprated or just that you moved one? If only one uprated, which one is it. Or am I just being thick!

There are two. The one that usually fails is under the airbox. Take the airbox off and follow the red lead from the alternator, you will see the small black fuse holder. Replacement of the this item is either with std item (100A) or upgraded (125A + new fuse holder).

The second is behind the passenger's carpet, this doesn't seem to give many problems.

Targarama - thanks for the info, clearer now on positioning of the fuses. Thanks for the link of parts as well. Intend to buy 100 amp spares for peace of mind and 125 upgrade to get fitted when I have time as not imminently playing on my mind or any signs from car of a problem.

Forget the strip fuses as can easily tear when fitting.

They do fit in the same holder, but fit a new holder and never go their again!

Is the 100a fuse behind the passenger footwell carpet the one that takes care of the power steering ? If so whereabouts exactly is it before I start rooting around.

You wouldn't want to to look in one place for two functions - not in a TVR, would you? The PAS fuse is located in the battery compartment...

Mine failed tonight - on the M1 where it is 4 lanes, 50mph speed limit and limited hard shoulder! I was in lane 3 and not the easiest thing to get across from just 50mph on a busy Fri afternoon.

After my "incident" I am looking at relocating the fuse to above the airbox at least.
Is it a fairly simple bolt on mod if I bought one of the in line midi fuse holders:

Sorry they are not mobile (company based in Mansfield) who I used to replace the alternator. Any auto electrician could do it for you. It was around £70 all in and quite simple and should only take 1 - 2 hours. If you have the one moved from next to the battery though make sure the cable runs along the chassis rail and is then fed up as far forward as poss to keep it away from the exhaust heat!
