Never drink at a charity auction...
Discussion
Some Thursday night ludicrousness for you all. We pottered along to some charity quiz evening thingy, invited by clients who had a table. Was great fun, but we all got utterly, biblically smashed.
Unintended consequence No.1 – pulled someone I really should not have. Luckily, although I woke up at her place (desperately late for work, as a bonus), we were both partially clothed. So nothing that bad could have happened. Not that I remember any of it anyway; as I get older, I'm finding that the blank spots are worse. Probably a sign to stop drinking so much, then.
Unintended consequence No.2 – I appear to have accidentally dialled an extra zero the bidding keypad. So I now own a VIP trip to Secrets lapdancing bar, including champers, food (as if one would want to eat anything they give you in a lapdancing club?) and a bunch of dances. That cost a lot – but at least the money will go to a decent charity. But it's not even a decent strip club. How upsetting. As a colleague said in a round robin text (we're not so stupid as to actually use e-mail anymore) "his face when he wakes up and realised he's vbought a few hours with a bunch of Eastern European birds will be priceless". Priceless? Not so much. Horrified? Rather more accurate.
Unintended consequence No.3 - lots of people saw. And told. So my "professional reputation" is at risk of being tarnished. Or even more tarnished, probably. Not much I can do about this one, unfortunately.
I want none of these consequences. The first has complications, as I am in the beginnings of something with a new Lady Flashman, who I like, and thus I should not be cavorting with other women. Even if they are easy on the eye and quite funny. The second is not a good plan because lapdancing clubs, alcohol and me are a bad mix, I have learned. Lapdancing clubs, me and free alcohol will be a worse mix.
Can you flog something like this (the VIP evening, not the girl) on ebay? This was Plan A. Can’t take clients there and expense it as it’s already paid for – this is a pity.
I am never drinking at one of these auction things ever again. Bah.

OT Flashman but think I spotted you posing in Dulwich on Saturday morning. Private plate on the Morgan?
That was me! Was driving her home from the dealer in Kent after the annual sprucing up. Was a nice day as I trickled back up Lordship Lane to get to Sainsbury's (which was packed, and soon ruined my lovely mood)Next time, come over and say hi! Have been randomly accosted in the street by PHers on 3 occasions: it's a pretty distinctive car, due to noise and camp colour combination (and the fact that it's in my profile pic).

One of those PHers was also me - we did speak last time I caught up with you one sunny evening in Putney. That car still looks (and sounds) great.

Shame not to be able to say hello. What were you doing in my neighbourhood?
At a charity auction and not long after my brother had died with me in a emotional mess, was not the best time to go flying into bidding on things I have no need for or could ill afford either. Booze-emotion-charity-being out of ones comfort zone-oh and did I mention booze, do not make for great bedfellows.
However I did end up with a box at the Dome for Disney on Ice featuring "The Incredibles" for about £700. I also ended up with various bruises down my right shin from my wife as the night and my drinking galloped along.
The box could hold 20+-ish and was fully serviced and catered and had a fully stocked bar also. Not something that was needed when I turned up with all my friends and their kids in tow. We had VIP parking so all drove and spent most of the time looking longingly at the two very large, glass fronted fridges.
Good time was had by all so it was worth it all round.

Trust me. I'm not getting good value.

Well, sighted by two PHers in one day. That's a new one.
And with the strippers, I don't think anyone can help. That's OK; it's all my own fault anyway.
