Yet more proof that Harris has a career in TV waiting for him if he gets bored of writing.

Awesome video, and evo are clearly splashing the cash with the slow-mo footage as well.

Great video and some nice footage. I do love the Top Gear arsing about but there is definitely a place for decent road tests and especially with Chris Harris who's written stuff I've always enjoyed. Nice to see the drivers republic style continuing.
Phil.

Agreed, should be good. I bet Clarkson chops in the mental Merc for one. Never been a big F fan but the more modern ones really tick the box for me and that 458 looks like an outstanding car.

Chris states about the GT3RS "How good can the Metzger engine get?", I didn't think the GT3RS used the Metzger engine. Am I correct?

I dont agree atall, the recent two years with regards to actual road tests have been a joke. Sure some of the scenes have been breathtaking but the review on the Balboni was a farce with Hammond driving around the streets and Clarkstons 997 GT2 review showing allot of spinning and tyre smoke with an exaggerated screaming of how hard the car was to drive was farcical.

I cant honestly think of the last good car review Top Gear did.

I have to agree with you on those 2 reviews especially the Hamster-Balboni 'review'! But in there defence atleast they try something different than the boring crap of yesteryear with Noel Edmonds, Chris Goffey and Quentin 'Up my own arse' Wilson. They have produced plenty of good reviews and as the guys have said above I can't remember ever being anything other than impressed after watching one of there Ferrari reviews. But as with everything else in life sometimes you get things wrong when you try something different.

But you know what you say: "If you don't like it..........."

Thats the thing, i cant think of any good reviews in the last 2 years. Also note that i am not knocking Top Gear as an entertainment programme as i never miss it. All i am saying is that there car reviews are a joke and the likes of Chris Harris and Sutcliff of Autocar show how it should be done.

P.S. Not actually sure what Ferrari one they did last? 599 maybe or was it the F430 Scud? I know that Fifth Gear did a 'California' review which is the most recent Ferrari outwith the F458.

Though I don't know of many mainstream people who watch Evo for car reviews on the Internet.
And i said "IMO they have never let Ferrari down in there presentations". Show me when they did do a bad review of a Ferrari.
Doesn't matter how much anyone bleats on about how bad TG is at reviewing cars. Like the rest of us you will be tuned in during the new season pop corn in hand, watching the 458 review smile
