So am sat here working away, and suddenly the dog starts going mental, so I looked out of the window to see the local labour councillor parking up in front of my house, him and another guy get out and share a stash of leaflets between them and head off up the street.

Fast forward a little, and I see him going up next door's path, so I think to myself, ok, go to the door and when he gets here, ask him some questions, seeing as he is the only one I have actually seen.

Just as I am getting to the front door, he walks right across the top of the drive and misses me out completely confused

Ok, so I guess that's helping to narrow down who I will be voting for then,( doing this by process of elimination at the moment) and one less bit of crap to go in the recycling bag!

Do you have a nice car on your drive? If so, they probably don't want to talk to your sort...

Nope, the car is at work with himself, and I am not on any benefits register, but then neither is my next door neighbour and she at least got a leaflet.

He didn't even look at the house, and all he had was the leaflets, I didn't see a clip board that could have had a 'do not call' list on it.

Highly probable thinking about it, the dog was going mad as he had the cheek to park outside our house.

Hmmm, it's very strange, I mean I saw the two of them set off up the street with leaflets, so it looks like they have been everywhere, I guess I just would like to know why he didn't come here, unless it has something to do with me telling the last but one MP that he was a waste of space, but that was over 4 years ago, do they bear grudges that long?

Perhaps they have already fiddled a postal vote in your name?

I got leafletted by my local Labour candidate - I posted it back with the photo of him and Goredoom arrowed with "Bigotted " pointing at Winky.

Childish - Yes
Satisfying - Yes

Couldn't come back to this as had no internet all afternoon and night, but around 5ish last night I saw the labour prospect and her team in the street, so went out to talk to her, first off asking why no one had even given me a leaflet, so how was I to choose, seems that she was only visiting people that had said they would vote for her, hmmm surely she should be trying to get the other votes?

Anyway, asked her why I should vote for her, and told her that I didn't want to hear why I shouldn't vote for the others, seems she plans to bring money to our part of the town, which is nice, but it will never happen, then she was bleating about education, and the new university we have, it's to train in manufacturing apparently, to which I replied, 'that's a joke, you have killed off what was left of manufacturing in this country' and blow me if she didn't say that it wasn't them, that was down to the Tories, at which point I lost all interest, as I pointed out to her, that was a long time ago, why do you all blame everything on the Tories?

So, even though there wasn't much chance of me voting for her, she didn't actually sell herself to me, still, at least I have seen one of them now!

Hehe, no I didn't but I did wonder about that, she practically ran away from me though, but in my defence, I didn't mention immigration, it was more on education, I dunno, is that a safe subject?

I did leafleting for a (tory) (succesful) council candidate once, we at least had a database of almost every address in the ward, their voting preferences, etc and we targetted leaflets in accordance with that.

We also used this database with the having voted thing and were able to predict the result almost perfectly, fwiw.

I'm sure labour would be the same.

Because it's Labour's escape clause ... It wasn't us! It was that evil Thatcher! Makes the Labour base fume whenever you mention Thatcher

Votes are secret but thaere's nothing to stop activists from asking people how they intend to vote... then seeing who's voted, then comparing stated intentions with the actual vote... over time a pretty good model is built up.
