This morning on the way into work, heading in the direction of the local dealership, so most likely the dealer principle with a new toy.

I wouldn't describe it as beautiful, but it is much better in the flesh than the photos, and a damn fine looking car.

And my god does it have road presence, really commanding, powerful looking beast.

I like...

I saw one a couple of weeks ago in stony Stratford near Milton Keynes.
It was best described as being brown.

Sorry, but not for me. Looked awkward from a couple of angles, then I read up and saw the price.

Absolutely tons around here in Coventry. Seen about 20, some before it was due to be released. They look good at the front, but not sure on the rear.

Hmm, not seen one but there's Jag dealership nearby - might have a look this evening.

I've only seen one. Didn't really like it. Not a looker, although the interior is simply amazing. I don't understand this term 'road presence' when what people really mean is 'enormous and bulky'. You can make any car have 'presence' just by making it large, it's not something that manufacturers should be applauded for.

I see what you mean, but that's not my interpretation of it. It's hard to describe, what it is, a bit like the x factor that are always looking for.

Cars which have a road presence that are not huge for example would be:
  • Caterham's, specifically the racier ones
  • Clio V6
  • Mk 1 Focus, when it was new, common as muck now so has lost some of it's edge

To take the XJ, which OK was getting old, but was a thing of beauty, and turn it into that.....words fail me.

You cant keep making the same car for 30 years tho can you? Didnt really work for Rover.

(Somehow it does work for Porche.. not sure about that one)

I've seen quite alot of them around here, there is one I see on my daily commute on an 09 plate, yes that's right an 09! (I'll try and take picture) it's a nice car but it has some ugly alloys on it they look like they are too small for the car and too old for it, they are a flat faced alloy with a large centre cap. I don't live too far from MIRA and quite often see a lot of teat vehicles before they are launched.

There are prototype XJs on as old as 57 plates. I'm not sure if the wheels you're talking about are being offered for sale, they're quite cool imo- a bit 80s though and I cant see many XJ buyers going for them... they're 20"ers BTW

One of those cars that does look a lot better in person.

Saw a shedload at MIRA at the beginning of the year, but didn't really get the chance to form a proper opinion till I saw one on the stand at the Geneva show in March....I liked it a lot more after seeing it there.

We saw one on the M1 last month. I pointed it out to my partner, who replied "it looks more like a Vauxhalll than a Jag!"

Which I think just about sums up my opinion of them too.
