Looking for a new daily driver
Discussion
Hi guys.
I'm looking to buy new car for everyday driving (mostly around town) after my Saxo died. It needs to be small-ish, economical and reliable. Maybe someone is selling something like that at the moment? Or maybe you could recommend me what to buy and what not to buy. My budget is around £2000.
Cheers
PS
Kay-VRS I've sent you a PM.

Focus is a good shout - great cars, plenty room for a small family, and should be no bother to find one in budget. We recently got a 1.6 Zetec and it's cracking, although I've heard the 1.8 is more fuel efficient. One thing I'd say against them is they rust a bit on the tailgates and next to the wingmirrors. Also, anything above a 1.4 will probably be in a higher road tax bracket than the Saxo unless you had one of the big engined ones.
If economy is important I can recommend the Puntos. We had a Mk2 and it was pretty much bulletproof, apart from the (apparently quite common) windscreen wiper problem that happened once and was easily rectified. Apart from that it never let us down once until the Mrs drove it into the side of a passing car. Even after that it was fine, but the insurers decided they weren't paying for the paint. Nice looking wee cars too, as long as you keep them standard. Crucially, they sip fuel, but I suppose most wee cars do.

how about a mk1 Seat Leon, or early 00's Ibiza a either a 1.4/1.6 or a 1.8T in budget, the 1600 will be more reliable generally better specced than the equivalent golf and slightly sportier. You might if your lucky get a fabia in this budget as well, but they are hard to find. If you can get one for £2k the 1.9tdi PD engine is bulletproof and 50mpg all day long.
what is good economy? 30mpg, 40 mpg or 50mpg?
road tax important?
ease to park?
number of seats?
