Righty then, At some point some half wit has decided that the front number plate on my MGB looks better screwed onto the actual bumper, rather than underneath the bumper on the mounting brackets that should be there.

This now means there are 6(!) holes in the bumper (4 from some numpty and 2 to fit the new number plate for the MOT).

Is there anyway to fill these holes / repair the damage without it being ridiculously obvious?
There is some other damage to the bumper as well which would be nice to repair as well (second picture)

(I pressed the button to take the picture when the indicator wasn't lit up!)

There is a flexible 2 part filler made which is specifically for plastic bumpers, (can't think of the make), a good motor factors should have it. Use like a body filler & rub down when dry. It does dry grey but I'm sure you would want to repaint after the repair anyway. You may find chamfering the holes will give you a better result.
Hope this helps.

i had some flexible black stuff for patching radiators which was the same stuff, a 2 part rubbery compound which i used to fill deep scratches of a bump strip.

can't remember the name now, but i half remember the logo of a globe with some text over the top

simoniz satin black is quite good, has a decent match to rubber and plastics, an actual matt paint will go chalky pretty soon, and make the bumper look like a blackboard

Well I suppose not 'matt' so to speak then, Just I prefer the bumper colour how it is now it's weathered for 31 years.
Seen a few at a show which had shiny bumpers and it just looked bad.

maybe full on matt black is what you need then. it should age quite soon, and have the "patina" of looking a little grey-ish

Satin black would make it look like it just popped out of the mould.

scratchchin

Maybe I should track down a can of each spray both on and compare how they age.

Not paying £80 for a used bumper on eBay!
