probably a stupid question.... wiper motor cover?

Hello

another day, yet another quite possibly stupid question!

whilst fixing some leaks over the weekend i noticed that with the bat wing part off on the drivers side of the windscreen there is a black cover (wiper mech cover?) above the four bolts thats holds the pedal box etc... Now is this supposed to be silicon round the gap? as on mine it wasn't?

i should really take a pic when i get back to show this!!

its the black part under the windscreen, on mine just out of shot to the left there's a gap!

Mine has silicone sealing it, so slap some in. Even if it's not standard it certainly makes sense and won't do any harm.
