Hi

just wondering if anyone has had their Aston (V8 Vantage) detailed.
I am thinking about it, and wondered what people thought about it (can you really see a difference, was it worth it, can you maintain the effect yourself for a while etc).

I was talking to Rick at DMS when I had my car serviced today and he said some people get a full detail done every 3/4 years, with a 'minor' one day each year, and the owner keeps it looking fairly good all year themselves (after some tips on what to buy and how to do it).

yes, had mine done a back in mid 2007 at www.gtechniq.com (North London) and Im very pleased with it, its lasting well ...certainly longer than any wax ive ever tried. For a black car, thats a daily driver and usually washed fortnightly, its holding up well...except for stone chips frown

this is back in late 2008 ...I havnt taken any recent pics, as it just looks the same...its not been polished or anything, just washed and dryed (2 buckets, 2 mitts, filtered water)

dunno what the current price is with them, as I had some club discount at the time 3 years ago, I think it was £250 ish

I use Sportscar Protection (http://www.sportscarprotection.com/index.html). They travel pretty much anywhere in the country.

Great guys. Very, very impressive results. Very unlikely you won't think the car doesn't look much better than new once they've finished.

The only hassle is, with any of these services, that if you're ham fisted at washing the car (and if you're not, you probably wouldn't use the services!), and/or use the car a lot in all weathers, you'll inevitably introduce swirls etc over time.

That said, the finishes do last a while, and if you're even remotely good at waxing cars you should last a fair while before the full monty service is required again...and the waxes etc do add some protection for the paint.

Yes, having your car detailed makes a massive difference, especially on dark colours and providing you have a decent wash routine, then it will stay looking great for a long time.

Your going to be looking at around the 500-600 mark for a full correction detail, with some guys charging more. A one day enhancement detail will be around the 300 mark and will make a big difference, but will leave the deeper marks in. Its all down to what you want to spend really and how much you notice the swirls you have already.
