One of these just landed on our local reck. Made a right racket as it circled around a couple of times and had the back open as it descended so was obviously in a rush. Not sure what they were up to as I rushed out to see what was going on but as quick as it came down it was off again.

How bizarre.

One flew over here at 7:25 heading roughly North East (ie back in the direction of Huddersfield).

ahhhhhh a chinook, amazing things, it's like what happens when you cross a bus with a top fuel car, and then make it fly.

They only fly because they're so ugly the ground repels them.

Get one every day over Farnborough. They're based at nearby Odiham.

I've flown out of Odiham in a CH-47. It was a truly awesome, if rather deafening experience biggrin

Fair enough, you'd expect to see them there but this one flew across the flight path into Manchester Airport, we just don't get military aircraft over here.

Always intrigued when I see something out of the ordinary me...

Saw one of them water dropping at the 1992 Farnborough Air Show. They are as big as a Hercules.
