upto april last last year i had accrued 3 years no claims. i then switched both car and insurance provider.

in october last year i changed car again, cancelling the rest of the insurance policy on the old one and this time switching to a classic policy with yet another provider.

i understood with the classic policy i wouldn't be able to accrue any further NCB. however they told me i could send them proof of my 3yrs NCB which would keep it current.

i'm just about to get rid of that car and have decided to live without a replacement for a while as i am not working and just don't need one. its also an expense i could do without until i'm back in employment.

just wondering what happens to my NCB when i come to buy a car again? do i have to start from scratch or will my 3yrs still hold?

I did this ages ago.

Get them to send you proof of your no claims. Keep that and send it on to next insurer, worked for me.
