Hi,

Anyone got any ideas;
In fillig out details on insurance comparison sites it asks if "ive had any claims in the last 5 years?"

-My wife - as an additional driver - had a small prang a few months ago.
-In the new car i am insuring she will not be added on the insurance.
-So, do I say 'yes' i have claimed (because I did under my insurance) or 'no' because i have not claimed personally and she is not going to be on the insurance for the new car....?

The difference is £800 so its worth knowing!

Thoughts? thanks

Yeah thats right, you need to declare ANY accidents or claims in the last 5 years. Because it was a claim on your insurance you have to declare it.

This.

Don't even think about not declaring it.

Flipping it around slightly, what would his wife have to declare if she went for her own policy in the next couple of years?

That's she'd had an accident.

It will be on the shared database anyway. If you tell porkies they will know and then refuse insurance.

Its a no claims bonus not a no blame bonus

She would need to declare it on her insurance too. Its her accident but his claim.

this,

When i got insurance and was adding my old man as a named driver. i told guy on the phone that he didnt have any accident's ( which he hadnt ) and they guy informed me of a claim, which i then clicked was my old dear who was on his insurance! They know, so no point trying it on!

Yep, that's why the question is 'have you had any claims or accidents' not just claims.
