Afternoon all.

Heading out to Vegas in a few weeks with the lads (5 of us) and wondered about evening entertainment other than gambling?

We will of ocurse gamble but its not the sole reason for going. I guess just looking for recommendations on bars, nightclubs, eateries etc...

Also any common pitfalls to avoid?

We won;t be shagging wes, but might have the odd 'dance' of you have any recommendations also wink

A friend has just got back from Vegas (on a stag do) and apparently got offered the services of a 'vagina finda' who's job it is to go and round up single women and lure them to your group with the offer of drinks. So that's one option.

Hmm maybe, however there is only one single dude.

Lap dance is ok, shagging birds isnt really, or so the OH says...

hehe

So you have that rule too...

I'm not sure how it worked really. It was apparently a legitimate service, but sounds like something half way between a club rep and a pimp.

Apparently the other options are "drinking cocktails, sunbathing and seeing shows".

Oh, or you could hire a car and try and trace some of HST's route from Fear and Loathing.

Go to THE Hotel at Mandelay bay and check out The Mix on the 64th floor. http://www.mandalaybay.com/dining/mixlounge.aspx The view at night is amazing. Its a bar/club and comes across as posh, but they let me in and trust me I'm not posh.

The rooftop bar at the Palms hotel is worth a visit, has a great view of the strip (being off the strip) and a glass floored section with view right down to the ground.

You can go to the gun store or gun range and fire some guns, they're set up for tourists so expect to queue for a while and be in and out quickly but you do get a target of Osama Bin Ladin with lots of holes in it to take away with you (providing you manage to hit it).

Grand Canyon might be a bit boring for a lads holiday but you could always take a chopper flight over the strip.

Club together and rent a Gallardo for a day.

Hooters

Alternatively there are an endless supply of bars and restaurants in every casino that you can visit without being a guest, valet parking is usually free (just the tip to pay) and you should remember to take your driving license with you everywhere as most places require a photo id.

The Circus Circus has a penny (dollar) arcade where you can go and throw a ball through a hoop and win a gonk etc..., it's full of kids though so it's best to be drunk.

Freemont St is worth a look and a bit cheaper than the strip and there's a cheapo souveneer store at the end to buy all your tat.

Just a few ideas,
Enjoy!

Wasn't that impressed with Hooters to be honest. There were better looking girls dealing in the "Pleasure Pit" at Planet Hollywood's newish place.

We went to an ice hockey match one night, which was a giggle. There are things going on at the Las Vegas Speedway some days too, so that might be worth a look.

We also went Skydiving. Twas a bit pricy, but amazing fun. (More of a daytime activity though.)

Never got up to the Stratosphere Tower, we ran out of time, but it could be worth a cab ride up the strip.

Do the coasters at the Strat (you don't need a cab, use the monorail) they are all excellent, so buy the combined ticket. In fact, do as many of the coasters as you can, the Nascar ride is expecially good.

Go catch a show, but avoid the one at the Strat (American legends, it's ste)

Fremont St experience looks ace, but I never made it. (there's a bus from outside the MGM that takes you there for $1 IIRC)

There are any number of amazing clubs inside the casinos, and if you fancy a more informal drink and some great live music then the dualling pianos inside the Times Sq bar in NY NY is great.

If you need things to do in the day, then grab a helicopter trip to the Canyon, about $300 each, but worth every cent.
If you have an engineering bent then go to the Hoover dam, but do the extended tour, it's light years ahead of the standard one.
This time of year you can also cruise on Lake Mead which could be good after a heavy night!

You will never run out of things to do in and around Vegas, it's a special place, and remember to tip the girl that brings the free drinks whilst you're gambling otherwise it'll be a while before you get another beer!

I've just come back from Vegas. I was there with the misses, so you're probably looking for slightly different things than on a lads do. However, NY-NY has loads of bars that do an early (before 8pm) happy hour and they're pretty decent and they've got a rollercoaster too.
There's also a $5 blackjack table in the Bellagio where you can get free table service (plus $1 tip) so effectively drink for free. Monte Carlo (next door to NY-NY) do things like free craps lessons too, so you can try a different gambling style, and apparently craps offers decent odds on actually winning (compared to other games). The lessons are in the afternoon mind.

Chopper ride to the grand canyon is good too, although you might want to book that in advance to guarantee the time you want. Someone has recommended a boating/jet ski company on here before, if you want to have a search. We also had the odd afternoon by the pool too for recovery/tanning purposes.

Oh and you'll be given about a thousand fliers on the streets/sidewalks advertising "ladies" wink

can vouch for this as when i went my mate/bro were under 21 and so not allowed to drink, hire cars, see boobies or do other cool stuff, but were allowed to shoot ak47's, america eh!

Can get a bit pricey though! Check out their "bargain bin" my mate came home with a tuncheon type thing!

Aye, but the idea is to try and win money, not give it away, so as long as you bet sensibly, you can make your money last a while, and get a few free drinks too smile
