No skidmarks, some deep gouges in the grass verge where I shoved it though.

Im in the bargain barge passat. The old girl takes her kicks and still keeps me just about intact.

When you say wheel, do you mean tyre, or the alloy wheel itself ?

I have heard that Audi alloys are notoriously weak, lots of reports of them bent on forums and I think Audi replaced a lot under warranty.............

It would be AN A3 to indicate the motor, THE A3 indicates the road.

To the other chappy about the alloy or tyre, I mean the wheel itself. As in kablamey, bang, poof, they is only 3 wheels on ma wagon.

To be fair, it could correctly be the A3 if you were referring to the one you owned, unless you owned multiple...

Hmmm...

Wheel bolts sheared. Wheel and hub knackered. Apparently I was extremely lucky that I was able to guide her to the side. Which brings us to today. In all the excitement of yesterday I kinda forgot some details. In my mind and memory I immediately had it down as smoothly and gently guiding her to a stop, little fuss or drama. Today tells me differently as I now distinctly remember the bucking wheel and fighting the car onto the verge...something I had no thoughts about in the instant aftermath of yesterday. This would also explain my bruised and rather sore hands today. I know nothing about neurology, but the brain aint half a wierd thing!

Now there you have a good point tonks. I used the wifes Fab for the first month of doing this lark. Ive nothing bad to say against the Fab, they are brilliant motors in my humble. What I did find though was that you do feel if you do these miles everyday you value something substantial over a small car. When I was looking for the barge then, I was deliberately looking for the larger stuff, not the smaller stuff.

There are an awful lot of folks who use 90s VAG stuff doing similar miles and journeys to me for a very good reason

Concur. Your incident won't alter my overall opinion of 90's VAG product, however I am keen to discover what the cause was in your case.

I'm glad your here to tell the tale!

Has happened to me a couple of times on stage, somehow seems less of a drama when you've got 6 points and a roll cage.
Can't imagine the feeling of it happening on a main A road.

Glad you're still here to tell the tale OP
