will be straight on the internet looking for jobs abroad?

My wife & I are pretty much decided that if there is either a Liebour, Lib Dim or a DimLie coalition as a result of this election, we are taking our tax payments somewhere else asap.

No, as I consider I'd be cutting off my nose to spite my face. There are things wrong with the UK, and with every political party coming across as much use as tits on a boar pig, I doubt whoever wins will wave a magic wand.

That said, I love the part of the UK I live in, I will pay more tax whoever gets in, but if I moved to another country my standard of living would be lower. I have the perfect mix of rural idyll and culture on my doorstep. We don't suffer a high crime rate, there are very few chavs, the police have a sensible approach to road policing, and the majority of people you meet are friendly.

Nowhere else in the world that I've been offers me that.

If Brown stays in No 10, I think we should organise a rebellion to go and physically remove him. A bloody big one as well.

Lots of people will be spitting with rage.

Having said, I'd rather see Brown in No 10 than Clegg

I wish that I could. The long term aim is to get to Australia, but currently it is not possible.

I am seeking work overseas, but only because I is a marine engineer innit. Paying income tax? Not I(hopefully). Therefore I selfishly don't give a st which dull man in a suit gets to live in Downing street.

Me. smile
I've already started the process and I'm shifting regardless of who gets in charge. It'll probably take me a year as I've business to worry about, and visa applications are pretty slow moving but I plan on leaving as soon as I can.

Mediocre hell hole if you ask me, and they have a totalitarian nanny state to boot. I spent a while there

Quite frankly, I am sick & tired of being raped for Swedish levels of taxation & being given Nigerian levels of public services while I see bone idle wasters being lavished with un-realistiscally high "benefits" that come directly from my hard work, while at the same time watching my Prime Minister pissing tax money up the wall on non-jobs, non-projects & building up a national debt that will hamstring my child, his child & his child with debt, while at the same time introducing more and more laws that restrict movement, opportinity & the ability to actually do anything quickly & constructively.

Sure, no-where's a Utopia, but guaranteed, there are countries with my industry that are damn site better than the last 13 years have turned this place into.

Interesting; for me that's a good description of the UK, especially England.

I can't decide who to vote for. There isn't a single party that I can support - not even marginally.

I hope Brown gets out, but is his replacement going to be any better? They can do a bad job and just blame Brown for everything that happened before they came into power. It may be true, but it doesn't excuse them from doing a good job.

I was sorely disappointed with the lack of local variety of scenery (you've got to drive 300 miles to see something different) the lack of culture. The locals are all trying to be European, everyone was oozing elfandsafety nonsense, the cops were draconian, the buildings were st. After you've seen some of the wonderful flora and fauna, you realise that it's a sterile cross between Costa Del Sol and Neighbours.

fking awful place. My kind of insipid hell.

The bruces were thin on the ground. It really was more dilute and European than Home and Away.

The surf was pretty epic though. smile

Things must be pretty bad, but to be honest, who ever gets in, the trend won't change for many years, if at all. But I do see agree that the last 13 years have been not a lot else but a decline.

I agree that whoever gets in, things won't improve for many years.

What I want to see is the trend line on the defecit going up & the trend line on "benefits" / non-jobs & other inappropriate waste going down.

If things stand as they are today, neither of those two things will happen

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with paying taxes & am one of the lucky ones, who (touch wood) have not had to rely on benefits for a single day. I do, though, have a big problem with seeing my taxes, which should be spent by the government with a heavy heart, being frittered away on inappropriate dalliances & lining people's pockets.

We are.

Spent some time looking at Swedish wood kit houses and apart form the land issue they are 25% the cost of standard house builds. New Zealand is looking good we can be 1 hour from skiing and in the opposite direction 1 hour from surfing, should have gone 5 years ago when it was soooo much cheaper to emigrate to.

I love the UK but can't stand what is happening to it and if it does not improve why should we work our guts out to try to prop it up?
