With the kick-off in Greece and the relative bail-out/potential bail-outs around Europe......when will the euro value fall against the pound?

And when will be the best time to buy some euros for my holiday travels this summer?

I've been putting off buying my spending euros for a week or two hoping that the euro will fall in value, but for some reason it is not going down significantly.

My completely uneducated guess is right now. From my understanding the reason the euro isn't falling against the £ is because the £ is also falling in value against the $ & yen, this is as because most investors believe that we're heading towards a hung parliment and as such the £ isn't a stable investment.

Should we have a majority government tomorrow, the £ will hopefully rise again. Otherwise it will continue to fall (just not as fast as the euro).

Don't take the above advice with any merit though! I'm an engineer and don't do finances or politics!

Well planning on buying 800 euros for cost of laps on the Nurburgring and hotel/beer tokens and then further spending money on following trip into europe.

So from 800 euros and good exchange rate will make a difference I am thinking.

If time was not an issue i'd wait. It's going to get a hell of a lot worse out there imo. But seeing as you've got a holiday to be going on and you can't wait that long and it's <£1k so it's not going to make that much difference. I'd say now's a pretty good time and if you wait a bit more there's a good chance you can get better.

Now is a good time in my opinion, better than it's been for a while.

I believe Portugal and possibly Spain are heading down the toilet in the future so the Euro will fall more in value, this could not be for a while though. Todays election could have an effect.

May as well buy them now, it would only make a difference of ~£10 .

You could hold out, I personally think it can only go up given what is going on. But I can't see it going over 1.20 this summer and 1.25 this year, so is it really worth holding out to split hairs?

I just changed a load up last night at nearly 1.14. That'll do considering the last time I needed Euros it was parity.

Where did you get a 1.14 exchange rate?
The best I can get via post office or Tomas Cook is 1.09. (Figures from yesterday)

Thanks

The best deals are only in London but at least some online deals are much better than in the high street shops.
Looks like I can save about £30 by using post office online.

It was at Tesco. Post Office and the tour operators rates have been crap for years now. M&S used to be good but they don't seem to be as competitive as the supermarkets at the moment.

last night before goint to bed it was 1.17 for every 1 GBP. This morning needed EUR's for the trip next week and I got 1.13 at Barclays commission free.

yes indeedy...I went and bought half of the amount that I was planning to.
I thought I'd edge my bets by buying some before and some after the election.
The 'some after the election' part of my plan is not going well.
