Morning folks,

Seeing as we have a bank holiday at the end of this month, and I'm hoping it will be a bit warmer and what not, I was wondering where people would suggest for a stint away from the big smoke...

Ideally looking for a bed and breakfast type arrangement, and somewhere there are things to do during the day. These things could be walking, sightseeing, anything like that also into historical places and what not, and near enough a town for food and a couple of drinks in the evening.

I'm pretty rubbish when it comes to this kind of thing, but am willing to look at most of the south with the exception of Hampshire perhaps as I've lived all over it and don't really want to see it all over again, ideas apreciated!

Try Arundel, You have plenty to do during the day, and Brighton and Worthing are not a million miles away.

Ha ha .. i go to Newquay for Boardmasters every year and i very rarely see Chav's.. just a ton of surfers/skaters/bmxers drinking and having a laugh...

Not sure what the rest of the year is like i must admit..

Arundel is a good idea though..

It's fine for Boardmasters but really is a s**thole for the rest of the summer unless you like fighting and vomit. I only live a few miles away but rarely go to Newquay unless I'm surfing.

How about Bath, it would probably fit your criteria?

Don't bother. The traffic's going to be awful and anywhere nice will be busy. So you're better off staying in London and hiring a convertible for late/early pottering on deserted streetsdriving

That would be fine by me, but my lady freind wouldn't apreciate it quite as much I doubt hehe

Traffic will be OK, if needs must and its somewhere like Bath I'll take the train.

If yougo to Arundel you could also potter around Chichecter too on one of the days. Catherderal is impressive (even though I'm not into that sort of thing). Then have a few beers in the Slug and Lettuce.

From now until September...

Loads of B&Bs in Bath but it would be worth booking asap for a bank holiday weekend. Definitely look for somewhere within walking distance of the city centre. If you want to splash out there are a number of city centre hotels too (Travelodge, Holiday Inn Express, Hilton, Haringtons, Francis, Royal Crescent).

Any ideas on the top things to do in bath Ewen, would probably be there for two solid days and 3 nights...

I will have a look hotel wise, I guess they won't be horrendous.

The hotels listed above are in roughly ascending price order.

Things to do in Bath...
Historic - the Roman Baths, the Georgian city, pump rooms, assembly rooms, loads of museums.
Modern - the new spa (Thermae Bath Spa), shopping, restaurants, pubs.
Entertainment - Komedia, Theatre Royal, various clubs.
Surrounds - Castle Combe circuit, Cheddar Gorge, canal and riverside walks.

Depends what you want really.

Well I think the spa might be worth looking at, it looks quite interesting. I was toying with Balloon trip as there seems to be a fair few on offer, not sure though.

As for the other things, I think a walk around the town to have a look and see what we fancy.

How about Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Lovely town, few nice pubs and restaurants.

If staying in Bath then Castle Coombe is worth a visit (village and circuit).

As an alternative I'd suggest Cambridge
Lovely historic city with plenty to see, some nice pubs & bars, easy to get there up the M11 & Duxford air museum nearby.
