Audi Reveals A1 Urquattro Tribute

New A1 accessory package pays homage to fabled Audi rally cars

Audi is pushing the boat out at the annual Wörthersee GTI meet in Austria next week, with a series of seven A1 models decorated with custom themes - including a Urquattro tribute that will become an official factory option.

"The Audi A1 fits in with the GTI meet because customisation has always been a central topic for the Audi fans here at the Wörthersee and will also play a special role for A1 customers," says Stefan Sielaff, Head of Audi Design.

Our favourite here at PH is the A1 with "competition kit" with the "legends interior plus" package, which is based on the Audi rally vehicles from the 1980s. In addition to exterior visual cues such as the Amalfi White paint finish and the original colours of the Urquattro (Begonia Red, Stone Grey and Grey Brown), the interior also evokes memories of the racing successes racked up by quattro technology, which is celebrating its 30th birthday, says Audi.

Pleasingly, the "competition kit legends interior" and "competition kit legends interior plus" will be available directly from the factory or via Audi Genuine Accessories at market launch.

The other customised A1s include a "Follow Me" design in Citrus Yellow with a black checkerboard pattern which resembles airport ground control vehicles, and the "Hot Rod" model boasting a matt-finish look and lowered ride height, plus steel wheels with whitewall tyres.

Fans of the marque visiting the event will also witness the first public outing of the hardcore Audi R8 GT we showed you yesterday.

Not a big fan of modern Audi line but this one looks rather nice. Much sexier than BMW 1er or even Mini

I like the idea but don't like the A1 styling.

As a Quattro rally fan, I hate this.

Worse than that Escort Mexico thing Ford released on the Mk whatever Escort.

Audi are now in to sportscars (Le Mans etc), why do this?

Or are they coming back in to Rallying?

Saw the Urquattro one at the Geneva show. Thought it was a nice thing to have at a show to tie in with the A1 launch...but nothing more than that, really.

They all look completely st. If you're doing a tribute to the original quattro, make something with some balls, FFS. Or better yet, just leave it alone.

Pwaaaahahaa!

It's alright for 17 year old bleach-blonde spotty oiks who moisturise. A massive bass-bin and LED washer jets would go well with all those stickers, also a set of go-faster racing stripes and massive fake carbon-fibre-looky-like spoiler, cherry-bomb exhaust and TSW Venoms would go down a treat

I hate it. There aren't many cars left where the money gets spent on performance rather than stickers and diffusers that are totally useless round a Rotherham housing estate and McDonalds carpark. There's no mention of any figures so I take it these are bog-standard cars in party frocks?

Hmmm..

It would be nice if they built a twin turbo 2.5 5cyl S3 with blistered arches and actually campaigned a WRC version. That would be a proper tribute!

Yes, as well as the state of people in their target market. What's your point?

It's a trendy urban runaround/fashion accessory for young folk with iphones and stuff.

Not what I would buy myself, but i'm sure that they will sell like hot lattes.

I think that matte black one with the white walls looks quite cool (minus the flames and bonnet stickers)paperbag
that yellow and black mess looks like it fell out of the ugly tree... infact NO, it looks like it was gang raped by the whole bloody forest!!!
