A3 Black edition - Should I get a remap??
Discussion
I am going to get a nice low mileage A3 2.0 TDI Black edition but I am undecided whether to get the 140 or 170.
I would defintely get the 140 remapped to just over 170 and this would save me money on buying the 170. Although I could try to get the 170 and remap that to just over 200.
Does anyone have any suggestions on who to go with for the remap and which car to get or any experience. I really dont need to be causing damage to an engine and I want to get the remap done pretty close to home (yorkshire)
I have seen the bluefin by superchips and this seems pretty easy plug and play although is that a good idea????
Thanks.

I had the 140PD engine in a Mitsubishi Lancer, with a Ralliart remap to 170PS. I doubt you'd need any more than that, with the 170hp/280lb-ft it was difficult enough to keep the thing below 3 figures on the motorway, and 1st and 2nd with any gusto resulted in bits of tyre flying past the side windows.
The Commonrail should be smoother once remapped, as they don't suffer the huge low end torque dollop of the PD engines.

I'd get the 2.0T petrol +DSG. Then when you remap you'll be looking at much better performance.

Don't the 170's have constant DPF issues?
I think this depends largely on your driving style and the type of driving you do, my parents have one and it clogs quite easy and needs thraping to get it back to normal, but that isnt their driving style when just pottering round, holding gears for longer and keeping it a gear lower than they normally would seems to stop it happening.Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
