Indeed.
I was chatting to the guy and he was saying, they recognise the fact that Wedges and S owners claims are less than those of the newer models ... also I suppose to their limited numbers as opposed to the "Wheeler" Cars where things were very much produced in greater numbers, also the age of owners is likely to me more of a factor too.

Both the above statements are correct , I have been with Hagerty and when I went to renew , was told the same, apparently thier good will scenario had to change because, some of these cars are now more accessable than they used to be and this means there have been more less responsible drivers claiming, which along with the genuine stuff, Hagerty have had enough.
The general understanding is that if you are looking to renew, it is unlikely that you will be able to do so, I wasn't, there were some exceptions, so still worth checking if you are one of the lucky few.
Hagerty were cool, they gave me exactly what I wanted and I am really P!!ss3d off and dissapointed that through no fault of my own. I am once again punished.rant over

So Hagerty didn't want to reinsure my wedge but just sent me an invite to the Le Mans Classic competition:
5. The prize winners will receive a VIP trip for two to Le Mans Classic, including;
• Three nights at your chosen accommodation: Kyriad hotel or private house
• Parking at the circuit throughout the weekend and on infield for eligible cars
I'm guessing I have to drive there - but how, if they won't insure me?? ;^) Silly buggers.

[/quoteThanks for the update Jeff , I am paying £175 at present so it looks like a £65 minimum increase will have to be swallowed , but its all in a good cause !

Yeah, pity but it is still the same price or better for me to insure the two cars (SAAB for work now, and Tiv for the weekend) as opposed to using the Tiv for work on its own. The insurance for the Wedge on its own was more than the two. As much as I liked using the Tiv for work there was the issue of going to Coventry the day before and extra hotel bills (one neighbor had threatened to kill me after a silliy o clock start). The fuel bills, and the tyres it ate for breakfast. So the Wedge is only a toy now. Did around a thousand miles last year as opposed to 10 when it was for work. At this rate the rears will last me three years

I've just insured my 350i with RH insurance for £113. 5k miles on a classic policy, me and the wife to drive (both 40 no convictions etc), break down included and I'm officially able to use it to get to work if need be. Has to be garaged between 10pm and 6am when at home. They were recommended to me by a couple of people and so after years of paying through the nose for TVR insurance, I've finally got a good deal. Maybe life does start at 40.
