I have the original panasonic radio fitted in the wedge but the tape deck has given up the ghost playing like its just swallowed a balloon full of helium. Any one out there got a replacement one for sale, if not whats needed to fit a newbie, i have took the center console to bits and looks like a few cuts and mods are needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated lads and lasses

if it sounds like the chipmonks, its most probably the speed controller that just needs replacing.
Ised to do it quite a lot years ago, and there used to be plenty of "electronic" repair shops about ...

Right, I have a pioneer 6CD changer and front bit that does cassette as well. Problem is I have the old leads still in the car. That is the lead for the changer that disappears into the car and reappears in the boot(I don't need that and if I can get it out all well and good). And the connectors for the audio/power. Had to bodge them a bit to work as the new ones needed splicing so to save time..... oh you get the picture. If you think you can get someone to wire them up then FOC. They are keeping dust off the shelf in the spare room, the changer had stopped working mind you and they might be a duff deal. I had not faulted them so might have been a lead out or damaged or the Birmingham screwdriver needed applying.

And I am working at the moment and the car is in the garage for some fettling. But the changer and head unit are at home.

What's a radio cassette player? Is it something you can use when you're parked??

Had an eight track in me first Vixen. Them were the days. Still use the cassette in the other car for the iPod.

Dunno about that, but my 12-disc CD skips like an entire playground full of schoolgirls over the least ripple. Found the only way to cure it was to take the changer unit off its mountings and wrap it in a coat biggrin

I have mine since the day i took it out (about 3 days after buying the car!)

Vikki keeps saying 'why do you keep this junk?' and i reply it will be useful to someone!!! Its got one of the reverse buttons missing but you can replace that from your alvin and the chipmonk version..!

If you would like it, it's YOURS!!

Thanks Matt your a gent but not sure it would fit. The one i have in uses the volume and tuning control storks to to bolt it to its housing. I have been told this was quite common in the early 80's i have never seen it before like?
