Has anyone had experience of buying a new car and asking the supplying dealer not to wash it (jetwash maybe)

I have a super wax on my Aston (you tube AMDB9) which makes it so lovely its amazing and im thinking if I get a virgin car (Jag XFR ordered) and get it to my detailer will it be better than new ?

Any input appreciated

getting it to a detailer will give the paint a better look than new. and, if you're spending big money, will be protected for a lot longer. any detailer is going to do a better job at cleaning the paint on a car than the dealer, it's what they do!! didn't realise dealers clean their new cars? thought they have an option to put some paint sealant on though, i dunno?

if you're into nice paint finishes and protection etc then get it to the detailers. i can't see any harm coming from them washing it though?

edit: fking lovely car there. my mates dad used to have a DB9 coupe which was lovely! though only went in it 2-3 times. do you know what wax they used on it?

Ask the dealer to not touch the car at all, only to do the checks on the car etc. Then get your detailer to prep the car for you.

Just explain to the dealer what you want to do and they will be OK. Uncleaned the car will look horrible however, so try not to be disapointed when you collect it.

If your detailer is mobile, arrange for him to do his thing at the dealers - you get a shiny car that's at its best, and he goes over it with a very fine toothcomb as an extra bit of the PDI. Job jobbed.

If your dealer will allow it ( should't be a problem ) then get your detailer to prep the car there for you prior to you collecting.

Will work well for your guy too, a potential for more work when people see the difference of a new car presented properly.......

Thanks chaps, the wax on the Aston is that Zymol stuff in the glass case its getting a top up just after the Jag arrives, its sooo unbelievable Ive never had a finish like it.

The dealer cant have a detailer work on a undelivered car and Matt doesnt travel anymore but I think a jetwash and a ionised water rinse will do me smile

To think the lovely Spectrum blue could be a Zymol spectrum blue is very exciting

how much is the zymol stuff? have you ever considered some of the dodo juice stuff? some seriously good stuff by them. i used the "hard candy" which was brilliant and lasted about 3 months. but, considering the age of my car, i go for an even stronger wax - collinite 476s, which seems to last a life time. though the dodo juice did give a better finish i think.

Sorry Ross I know nothing about detailing just that Matt (off your marks) does a good job and he was showing me the funny bottle.

The Aston waxing has lasted a year and gets a fortnightly hand wash

would be amazed if it's this stuff:

http://monzacarcare.com/zymol-car-wax/zymol-royale...

they have another "cheaper" wax in a glass bottle. that's only £2000 or so hehe

Matt is one of the best detailers in the country, though not the cheapest, but his work is second to none.

The wax he will have used would be zymol royale, but most of the great finish will be from the machine polishing, but the wax does add that little bit extra.

If it were my car, i would tell the dealer not to touch it and the drive it straight to matt and let him work his magic on it.

And thats what I will be doing ! I will check with matt but I assume a jet wash and a ionised water rinse will be ok prior to collecting smile

The job on the Aston (if you see the video the Aston is high miles and 4 years old with a automated car wash history follwed by an inexperienced buffer job) made it as a new car and Matt came recommended - shame he moved out of Liverpool !!!
