just to go faster or faster then the teg. If the latter then you have no chance really not cross country at any rate.

Its just the difference from a oil burner to a Vtec engine he is going on about, oppersite ends of engine spectrum.

Turbo diesel? Plenty of options for that turbo... power gains will be better than anything he could dream of for a given budget. Of course, you could take it to stupid levels by replacing the turbo but it's a Fabia at the end of the day and you don't want to spend £20k tuning it to beat an Integra.

A freeflow exhaust and filter will be a good start. Then speak to one of numerous companies about changing the ECU. Apparently, realistic improvement of 20-30% possible.

Give DMS Automotive a call. They don't list your car but do work on VWs and Audis. Expect to pay £500+ though for just a remap. Exhaust would cost about £400. Is it really worth it?

Remap and find a long steep hill, your torque will win over, just. However you are trying to beat the best FWD handeling sports car pretty much ever made.

Or engine transplant, will a 2.0ltr lump fit?

nope you see you would be wrong there. MPG is not a good indicator of a cars abilities.... Trust me though the Teg is very very good. (i have only done about 500miles in one but i run a type R civic so have some understanding about these things)

Challenge him to a top gear acceleration test from 40mph to <whatever> You might beat him at that.
