They only mention the Geartronic as the automatic option. Have they rebranded Powershift or lost access to it now they are no longer part of Ford?

The difference in emissions makes me suspect that they are no longer fitting the powershift system.

Re lower emissions, reckon that might be more due to how fuel inefficient that Ford TDCi is. Ok(ish) on very long runs where you hardly ever drop out of 6th but for general day to day unimpressed, even on the long runs not that wonderful even if can crack >50mpg.

My Powershift hasn't been on a megamile Continental road trip yet but that will be rectified in spades during this summer and autumn. Confidently expect it to crack mid 50s easily as I've seen 50 plus on some quick UK jaunts even during last winter.

Basically what I think I'm saying is that the Geartronic may worsen the mpg very slightly cf the Powershift but that is more than offset by the new engines, however that's a bit of a gut feel with no detailed figures to back it up.

Volvo said:
In the Volvo S80, V70, XC70 and XC60 the newly developed 2-litre diesel engine produces 163 hp and 400 Nm of torque. In these models the engine is badged the D3.

Fuel consumption (EU Combined, preliminary figures) and CO2 emissions:

Model Gearbox Fuel Cons (l/100km) CO2 Emissions (g/km)

S80 D3 Man 5.3 139
V70 D3 Man 5.5 144
XC70 D3 Man 5.9 154
XC60 D3 Man 5.9 154
5.9 l/100km is what, 48mpg??

My 2002 V70 D5 auto is getting 43mpg around town (well A/B roads and no too much stop/start).

It's not that impressive really, is it?

From what I gather the D5 units are really rather frugal in the early V70's and the newer variant is relatively thirsty. This new one has come back round to being frugal again.
