Don't worry, i've already voted for them, but on my Facebook travels, I came across this and was wondering what the PH response to this would be?

Thatcher and her cronies conned their way into power in June 1979 by allowing people... you know, like you and I, to believe that there would be benefits via tax cuts and everyone would be better off.

That hope was to be snuffed out very soon.

VAT was supposed to be a tax on luxury goods.

To pay for the tax cuts which the average working person got 50 pence extra, the tories increased VAT from the then 8% to a whopping 15% (87.5% rise).

This meant that the 50 pence extra we got was more than gobbled up by a tax on everything we needed.

Soap, bin bags toothpaste.. all luxuries???

To this very day... charter a plane, and there is no VAT: that's not a luxury you see!!!!

The Con... servative's rich pals saved tens of thousands £££££££/$$$$$$$:
us lot were actually worse off,
so the first syllable of Con..........servatives is what should guide you dear reader as to their election intentions.

1980 saw British Steel brought to it's knees by Thatcher and her cohort McGregor who offered one HALF of 1% rise when inflation was up to almost 20%... a game of chess where the workers were simply pawns:
forcing the steelmen to strike for the first time in their history!

When it was all over, many men were consigned to the "scrap heap",
and suicides increased by 600% over the 1970's!

After British Steel was crippled, McGregor was moved on to British Coal, and with similar tactics, the company was crippled and the pawns... workers sorry, were also thrown onto the "scrap heap".
A tactic used by McGregor and Thatcher was to double up on equipment needed for the mines these two jackels had earmarked for closure.
When the books were looked at... hey presto.. no profit,
(even though production by the hard working miners was at an all time record)
just in case you missed out why;

all the profit had gone into paying for the extra expensive machinery that was never wanted.. get it?

Anyone heard of the Falklands War?

For those who don't know what happened:
here is a potted version;

Argentina wanted the Falkland Islands, so they invaded them, thinking Great Britain was too far away, (8,000 miles/12,000kilometres) to defend the Falkland islanders: how wrong they were!

The Argentine navy headed towards the Falklands and NATO satellite photographs were faxed at regular intervals to the....

(Unmanned Foreign Office)

over the weekend that the islands were being invaded.

The WHOLE of the Foreign Office were sacked!
Now what do you think they were up to out in the country away from the bright lights of London?
Carrington and John Nott... the head FO bods were given jobs in the financial sector....(where the tories mates lurk) on £50,000 pa each, equivalent to £400,000 pa now!
(Not bad for someone who didn't have a clue about the jobs they were doing, don't you think?)

Now SIR John Nott and LORD Carrington continue to live the high life at the poor tax payers expense.... of course.

A simple phone call to the boss of Argentina, General Galtierri to inform him that the RAF would be paying Buenes Airies a visit would have nipped the whole situation in the bud...

Thatcher didn't ring,

many people suffered and 904 servicemen died as a result!

Instead, Thatcher turned poor popularity ratings into an election victory with:
the Falklands spirit speech remembered by millions of voters.

So once again the tories conned their way to an election victory, on the backs of many dead and injured service personnel.

All those lost lives on both sides.

(A heavy price to pay for an election victory don't you think?)

I have not even touched on sell offs to pay for TAX CUTS to benefit their rich cronies.

Lord Stockton. an ageing tory lord bless him, asked Thatcher,

"What happens maam, when all the family silver has been sold off?"

A reference to;
British Gas
Electricity
BT and others, all now the hands of greedy private corporations.... gas/electric/phone bill hikes ring a bell?

Thatcher never forgave him for saying that publicly, and he died shortly afterwards an outcast from the con servatives who actually asked pertinant and honest questions.

I haven't even mentioned the dreaded Poll Tax, which failed in medieval England, but was introduced again anyway with disastrous results;
An old lady living alone in a massive mansion would pay LESS tax than a couple struggling by in a two bedroomed terrace house.

Does that seem fair?

Does it?

Think about it.. please.

By the end of the 1980's Thatcher had been booted out'

http://www.newstatesman.com/uk-politics/…

Enter John Major.

An election was imminent, so giveaways were the con.. of course.
One of the first things he did after surprisingly winning the election was to increase VAT to it's present level 17.5%
VAT, to pay for the rich people's giveaways.
VAT by now had been added to all take aways, (even fish and chips and hot pies),
all home improvements such as double glazing,
loft insulation, and
cavity wall insulation.
New bathrooms
kitchens
extensions
ALL now carried 17.5% VAT!!!!!

VAT was put onto GAS and ELECTRIC bills...
a great help to the poor pawns... sorry, voters.

Just before that election in early 1990's, an election the tories expected to lose, thinking that the British people wouldn't fall for yet more tax cut promises, government people went into all DHS buildings and shredded hundreds of thousands of files... somehow, they won on the strength of more false promises.
By now, a 6% TAX above inflation was put on all transport fuel.

This was stopped immediately after Labour came to power!
The new Labour government also stopped the planned increase of VAT onto householsd fuel..
cutting it out for pensioners, and
increasing the Winter Fuel Benefit for Pensioners,
a massive Godsend to millions!

Is there any wonder that the tories were booted out in 1997?

There is much more information I could give you, but I do hope you will get a flavour of what that evil traitor Thatcher and the new kid on the block Major did to our country and her people... apart from those of their friends in the financial sectors et al.

NB; Labour has never increased VAT at any time.

Good Luck

Lies, cons and more lies... did I mention cons?
Archer and other tory fellons eating at the trough
3 Million+ unemployed
raging inflation
hope of millions taken away
Chilean president Pinochet which Thatcher helped escape house arrest

http://www.remember-chile.org.uk/comment…

http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/2WW…

Many of these criminals and traitors still evade imprisonment, and in Thatcher's case the hangman's noose

I predict a VAT hike to 25% by the Con... servatives/tories if they get in, to pay for the silly manifesto which of course doesn't add up.... so what's new with the Con.. servatives?
Nothing at all!!!

Same thing could be said about Labour's history repeating itself.

Two simple questions - when was the country healthier and had real standing on the world stage?

I got this far, and wonder why one of the first lines of attack from the left is still Thatcher. 20 years ago?!

"British music is crap, all that Adam and the Ants..."confused

What's "servative" mean?

It's a joke, designed to make the anti-Tories look stupid. I think.

Ask him if he thinks a 98% top rate of income tax is sensible. Probably does though.

OK, I've thought about it and on balance one person paying less than two people for local services does indeed seem entirely fair. Why wouldn't it?

A common theme to anti Tory rants seems to be the country will be run entirely for the rich upper class, Still better than running it for the Labour created benefit class

I'm no political analyst but I have noticed that the opposition (who ever they are) can find damning evidence to suggest the current government ( who ever they may be ) are making monumental errors in the running of this great [sic] country of ours. As this debate is usually between the main two parties the third party ( you know who I mean) don't really get a look in.

I saw an interview recently with a member of the third party on the subject of the expenses claim scandal. When you stripped away all the smoke and mirrors what he actually said was the main two parties had the most prolific expenses 'discrepancies' , whilst the third party was the least disgraced by the scandal.

So in summary

First is first

Second is nowhere

Third is obsolete

Vote away

(I didn't )

I think I speak for most of us here in saying that a Tory leadership will do us a lot of good.

Most here are higher earners and traditionally, the Conservatives have made tax concessions for top earners.

As higher income families we are the most likely to have substantial savings and benefit from the much higher interest rates too.

I don't think that is the case. Higher earners or not most people owe ( incuding mortgage) more than they have in savings, therefore a rise in interest rates will not be beneficial to the majority of the population

Nope - fk-em - every man for himself I'd say. I've lost jobs, got new ones, moved half way across the country to get new ones. There is no excuse for any English man to sit on his fat arse and expect benefits.
Look after the infirm and elderly - everyone else should earn what they get, or repay the state with labour.
In my opinion, we all get the same opportunities at school - make of them what you will - if you choose to waste that you deserve to starve.

When you say 'do us a lot of good' what does that mean ? We'll have a little more cash in our pockets ? Does that solve everything ?

I thought it would be quite a good idea to have invested in better schools/health systems, etc, not so we look better in front of others.
