I understand the markets opened at 01:00 this morning, what happened/is happening?

How is a hung Parliment being received?

Being attributed to software problems.
BBC were reporting that it was due to a trader's fat fingers - pressed the "billion" button instead of the "million" one. Not sure how that could happen in reality, but that's what they reported.

The media have been blaming black box trading for this. Certainly where I work (a rather large exchange) there has been nothing out of the ordinary. There were some dangerous rumours flying around about a large US bank yesterday afternoon...

I've seen it happen on the IBEX years ago now when someone in Madrid disabled the system failsafes becuase they wanted to trade quicker.
screen figuresd just fell through the floor then bounced all the way back up again.

Amazingly everyone kept their jobs
