In a number of locations around the country significant numbers of voters have been prevented from voting when the polling station doors were closed at 2200. Discuss.

If you're not in the building by 10, your not voting. Seems pretty simple to me.

It is shocking that there are people who could not manage to find time to get there.

The cut off is 2200hrs. Not 0100hrs.

Part of me says the cut off is 10pm, if you can't get there, fk off.

BUT, if the polling stations are short on staff, not properly organised, running out of ballot papers and turning people away who have been queueing from BEFORE 10pm then this a situation that is completely out of order. Shocking stuff.

but they still had 15 hour to do it, or could have done it by post last week

Yes they could, of course we all could in a perfect world and in a perfect world we'd have 100% turnout and all. But in the real world I don't see how common sense cannot be applied.

Do you really think polling stations with a shortage of ballot papers or messed up lists is right in this country?

if that is actually the reason, then I might have some sympathy. If it's just that people turned up late, then tough st

Fact is, if most of the polling stations could manage to get all through the doors in time, then ALL of them should be able to.

That means providing enough staff to cope with demand.

FFS - a lot of people didnt have polling cards?! You don't need one to vote!!!!!!

I saw the queue at 6 and went home. Checked queue again at 7, 8 and finally decided to queue at 9.15.

Thats an absolute disgrace, I think this will rumble on and on, depends as well if there are some close voting situations as well. This is a shambles for a modern country.
