In Valencia itself it's well worth going for a traditional lunch at somewhere like El Kiosko. Honest Spanish grub in a great little square, a fantastic way to watch the world go by for a few hours.

It's a nice city to just walk around and take in the scenery to be honest.

A very good call, Valencia is a wonderful place, one of my favourite cities to just wander, stop for a coffee or beer here and there and see where you end up. There are some brilliant Tapas places in Valencia, so you won't go hungry!

Just thought of something else. This is going to sound a bit strange, but go into the main Post Office (on the main central square opposite the local government building) and look upwards. The finished renovating the building about 8months ago and the roof is quite something.

If you've got half a day to spare then it's well worth heading into the mountains. The area I know is N/NW of Altea and maybe a bit too far but I'm sure there are some amazing roads closer to Valencia - the ones I've driven are deserted, super smooth and real rollercoasters smile
