Boiled the clutch fluid!

Now this is a new one on me - on a trackday at Knockhill yesterday I apparently managed to boil my clutch fluid. Pedal just went flat to the floor with no warning, but then came back after a 15 minute cool down.

Admittedly, the incident was preceeded by 7-8 pretty hot laps (was tussling with a Saggy-engined T350), and the current fluid in there coming up to its 2 year mark, so due a change anyway, but I think something more must be up to be able to boil the fluid (hose sitting against the manifold?) - any suggestions most warmly recieved.

Was a real shame, as it was my first dry trackday in ages, and the car was handling like an absolute dream.

Does your car still have the cats on?

They have been known to boil the clutch fluid in the past.

Nope, no cats. The exhaust is an ACT special with centre silencers, so maybe they're getting a wee bit hotter than they should...

Ok, I'e never heard of a de-catted car boiling the clutch fluid before, it must of been proper hot. That fluid will need changing now

Definitely - will stick some proper high-temp stuff in this time.

Careful which one you use some can be quite hard on seals, I am told you don't want to blow a seal, it can make a terrible mess!!

I had this on my car in the original London Thunder, which is why I went decatted, but I did think the clutch fluid had never been changed as it was really thin and watery. I flushed the lot through with several bottles of new fluid and not had the same problem since.
