Hi,

I'll be attending a wedding out in the suburbs of Paris for which I'll need to rent a car (weekend of 21-23 May).

Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can rent a car that's not your usual Focus/206 etc but something a little interesting instead? (a PHer's car if you will). Something with 2 seats and suitably sporty would be nice.

Obviously this will cost more than renting a Fiesta but I don't want to pay a huge amount either, don't have a budget as such in mind and if its a car I really want to drive I'd probably pay a bit more anyway.

Should have driven over instead of taking the Eurostar really!

Thanks!

Having driven in Paris quite a lot I would advise you not to bother and just to get a bog standard motor. Parisians don't give a toss about cars and tend to park by shunting the car in front and behind until they are in the space, anything glam would just be a waste. Only my opinion of course. Good luck.

Hi,

I'm all too familiar with Parisian driving smile i'm often there as my wife's family all live there.

If i was going to be in the centre of Paris I'd tend to agree but I'm arriving at Gare du Nord and heading straight out to Meaux (just north of Paris) so won't really be in Paris that long... and I need a way to get to Meaux!

That's a very boring drive - central Paris traffic followed by autoroute. It would make more sense to get the train to Meaux from the Gare de l'Est - it takes about 40 mins - much quicker than in a car.

Alternatively, since you're based in London, why don't you drive your own car there? then you can plan some nice routes through Northern France. It's only about 2.5 hours from Calais (fastest route).
