Okay, the title is a bit of a cliche, but here's the thing: I'm 27, I've been eligible to vote for three elections now and this is the first time I've actually bothered. The same is true for virtually all my friends of a similar age.

Is it that we're getting old and boring or has something about this election generated genuine interest from people who wouldn't previously take note?

With people being turned away from polling stations, reports of widespread postal fraud and a silly 'first past the post' voting system I would say no, democracy has been a loser in this election...

And you notice the rock solid Labour support in Scotland, where many MP's increased their majority. Funny that, after 13 years of Labour rule and total financial meltdown, and when the Returning Officer is working for the (solid Labour controlled) local authorities.

Of course, a few extreme cases get thrown to the wolves, like Lembit Opik and Jacqui Smith, to keep the public happy. The results were also wildly inconsistent. I think this election smells a bit odd.
