What car? (Sorry!) £6-8k
Discussion
Hi guys
The time has come to replace my Celica 190.
Looking at cars now between £6-8k ish, can anyone suggest anything quite fast and reliable, but not something that will drink, so no V8s
as I do a lot of town driving aswell. I don't need space so 2 seaters are fine, prefer RWD but FWD is ok as long as it's fun.
I'm swaying towards the EP3 type r, any other ideas? MX5's are off the list unless it's a supercharged example!
Cheers!

Boxster, very good chocie I hadn't thought of, and looking at them now, they're bargains! The 3.2 can be had for £8k!!
Is there an owners club I can ask for more info on Boxsters?
Be careful with these, they have a few known engine problems and maintenance compared to, say an EP3 CTR, is a lot more fo fairly similar performance. Is there an owners club I can ask for more info on Boxsters?

Renault Megane 225, either a trophy or a facelifted one, think they're around this price now.
My brother had a 172 and had nothing atall but problems with it, I'm staying clear of French!VX220s have gone up now it's summer, they all seem to be very overpriced, most seem to be above the 9k mark, even for the NA!

A basic service on a civic is cheap, parts are cheap and mechanically not much goes wrong. Insurance is much cheaper too. The Porsche is more expensive to insure. Porsche servicing and parts are significantly more expensive and there are more bits to go wrong. I wouldn't feel comfortable without some money in the bank for a rebuild/new engine or a warranty either.
And the boxster won't do 35mpg!
For example:
Front discs for EP3 are around £50 for the pair. Boxster front discs are £100 each.
More expensive no?
