got is sideways in the rain

had a bit of a moment earlier on

i got caught out and about in the rain and was accelerating across a straight bit of road at about 3/4 throttle

the camber changed as two bits of road surface met and the car got out of shape, i expected it to have a wobble but it was more severe than i expected

i backed off and caught the car - do you think i should have kept it planted and let the ATB do its thing ?

better to be safe than sorry. i also got caught out today roads bit damp racing a ferrari. not a good combo. got to round about and back end flying out tried to hold it but had to let off a bit as started to loose my bottle lol. my mrs was not impressed, i was grinning from ear to ear though

I'm sure she wasn't - but were you ahead of the Ferrari?

i guess i need to do one of those driving days where you get to explore the limits of the car in a safe environment

I had the same a couple of months back, straight piece of road, damp conditions and lost the back end under acceleration.

I am planning on doing a driver training day in the next couple of months. I did a 'Car Limits' day at North Weald a couple of years back in an Elise and really enjoyed it. Finding the limits and not having to worry about losing the back end gave me loads of confidence in the car.
I think its about £190 for a 4 person day, if anybody else is interested Ill make enquiries as to available dates in June. It would be good to get 4 nobles together on a day.

Don't expect to come out of the day being able to "do sideways". It's more likely to scare and make you think "bugger, I thought I was quite a good driver". Having said that it's huge fun and informative.

Hummm what will be the outcome if I know I am not a skilled driver?

And I've never had the balls to push the throttle more than half way?

Thats what it did for me...I knew I wasn't a good driver but it certainly made me realise how crap I really was

Saying that its alot of fun...and in a safe place. Andy is a very good instructor but I came away feeling more cautious

I would recomend motorsportsevents academy days one and two. I think they were better than the car limits day.

I always thought I was a fairly competent driver until my 1st lap of the Ring, where I was completely humiliated by just about everything! Petrol, diesel, 2 wheels or 4, they all came part me, occasionally round the outside of bends!!!
On a track I must become 'that dawdling pensioner' to everyone else

You will get it out of shape and love it. It's a brilliant day. Hopefully you will come back from it and at least understand what makes you "lose" the back end.

slip its ok i made it through the slide fine however the rollicking i got from the mrs means i may be a bit more careful next time,
