Although it might be a pricey number, you'd rather pay a couple of quid for a phonecall than find out your flight/booking has been cancelled.
I didn't catch a flight once (drove instead) and the people who'd booked it for me didn't let the airline know, so they (the airline) cancelled my return flight!

Not in my experience, often I've had to book a number of flight combinations due to the uncertain nature of my work, and picked the relevant one when the time comes. Not had a problem so far. Also the same goes for missing the first leg of a multi-flight trip hasn't worked out to be a problem for me, but as already stated, probably worth checking with your carrier anyway.

If you're booked on a return ticket, most airlines will cancel the return if the outbound is missed - unless you ring up and talk to them.

Certainly BMI and FlyBE will automatically cancel the return if you miss the outbound..I know this wink If you do just turn up at the airport expecting the return to be open (as I the first time) they may let you on if there's a free seat (at least they did with me) but they did explain that the rule was that the flight really was cancelled and my seat was therefore up for grabs to be resold and it was only luck/flight not full/them being accomodating that got me on. Subsequently, I've always made a point of contacting the airline if I've missed the outbound to keep the return open...which they've always subsequently done.

Do they cancel the return ticket even if you have paid for one of those non-cancellable, non-changeable fares ?

That's just dirty.

They'll have cancelled it. Ask for your taxes back though if you ever get through.

entirely depends on the airline.

for example...

if it was easyjet the return would be valid
if it was BA the return would be cancelled

However, i am afraid i do not know what particular version of the rules your airline plays.

Possibly worth phoning the premium number on this occassion, painful as it is.

KLM don't automatically cancel them, so just speak to the airline.
