... A safe labour seat? Could Mandleson be parachuted in so he has the letters M and P after his name again before...?

Be afraid.

Her Majesty's Conservative & Unionist Party have nothing to fear here in the Blue part of Yorkshire, you know the nice middle class bit where people actually work for a living.

Mandelson is a Lord, and so cannot be an MP anyway.

His power is much diminished by the election result - but he may yet be resurrected (again)...

Resurrected?

You make it sound like he gets out of his coffin every morning as part of a Gothic horror inspired ritual.

Good job it's not Scarborough and Whitby.

Why does he need to be an MP?

Its true blue country, but the liberal guy has a good local presence at district council level.

Could be interesting. I am doing a small polling station covering about 120 people. Could be very quiet if people don't bother turning out after the 'main event'.

Don't think we need to worry about queues around the block at 9.45pm. The worst though was the Euro elections a couple of years ago when I fell asleep outside and got sunburn't. Very few turned out that day.

BUT BUT BUT! Its in the North and it's northerners that all voted Labour, according to PH muppets, as demostrated by the great swathe of red engulfing North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

I was wondering the other day. With these small polling stations, what happens when all 120 odd people on your list turn out? Can you just pack up and go home?

confused

Countryside voters have always gone Conservative, it is only the ex-mining areas of the North and Yorkshire that vote Labour.

No it's any ex-industrial area, steel, shipbuilding, textiles, armaments and coal.
