Noticed that whenever someone wants to make a point on PH, daily mail articles seem to be top of the list. What is it that you'd find on the daily mail that you don't get in another newspapers?

Is it ok to ridicule PH'ers who link to Daily Mail articles?

I think they have the best website among the papers, can't say that about the content.

A lovely negative perspective on news stories.

Makes for good outrage!

Factual, unbiased reportage - what more could one ask for!

Actually, I quite like the paper.

I still haven't forgiven the DM for making me believe for years that 'female' was spelled 'femail'.

1. The vast majority of stories sourced from the Mail website are also reported elsewhere. Just happens quite a few of us read the Daily Mail and post directly to those stories because we don't entertain the morons who think all Daily Mail stories are toss, and can't be arsed to read other websites to placate morons who hate the DM.

2. No its not ok. It's just plain rude and bad mannered. PH used to have some standards and some of us like to think it still does. So feel free to continue to ridicule others, whilst being unaware that the joke is really on you for being a narrow minded pain in the arse.

Yes - it is a hilarious branch of Middle Englanderism where Mail readers feel they are somewhat superior to Sun readers. However, the main difference is that with the Sun the tits are on the inside.

Maybe ridicule is a bit strong and we should nod politely until they shut up and go and polish their ornaments.

Currently, this is the most read story on their website:

Counsel rests.

Rather than posting something that’s really rather negative in outlook, why not give details of an alternative unbiased news source wink

Personaly I prefer Timesonline.co.uk and telegraph.co.uk to the DM

It is the case though that the vast majority of PH'ers disregard any news source that isn't very right wing though...

As tinman states - newspapers report the news. Yes all fine and well.
The problem with the DM is they don't just report it, they add their own bias and slant to it to make it read in a way that conditions the reader's opinion to suit that of their own. Nowt but propaganda and to be thrown in the same bin as The Sun and The Mirror, the type that publish their backing for a political party. Report the news you s and let me decide how I'll interpret it according to my own personal prejudices, insecurities and small-mindedness!!!!!

All the news sources put their own slant on it.

How many people roll their eyes at a BBC article, or a Guardian article, yet its fashionable to mock the Daily Mail constantly.

I can remember when I was a paper boy nearly 30 years ago and remembering how the Daily Mail had the piss taken by some comedians on tv.

It's not a fashion thing at all.

It does a great job of providing its target market, which is a sizeable one, with what it wants.

And duly deserves to have the piss taken by the rest of us

So the conclusion is that people don't like news sources with different biases to their own - big shock. The Mail does seem to take particular delight in pushing its readers' buttons, but all papers pander to the prejudices of their readers.
