Hi. My girlfriend is going to Canada for 8 weeks at the start of June but has not managed to sort any accommodation yet (flights are booked).

Now she is going on a pretty small budget and is looking at maybe staying at one of these farms where you do a few hours work then they let you stay there (I didnt know they exist but she has told me about them)

She has had a look on craigslist but it a bit worried about handing money over and being conned. Im going over for a week in the middle of her stay but I will probably book us into a hotel.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers!

You can get cheap accomodation in Canada by staying at a university facility. I did it myself over thirty years ago in Toronto and the stay was great, student bar access etc.

Your girlfriend will probably need a work permit if she intends to get a job.

Thanks for that, she's probably booking it for the first couple of weeks of her stay but it's fully booked for the end of her trip, craigslist has alot of temporary rooms advertised but it's hard to know what's relaiable etc and don't want to lose a desposit, does anyone know of a more reliable website that advertises rooms?
cheers

Matt..

I stayed at Clarence Castle (a hostel) when i was in Toronto a few years ago smile I thought the hostel was great (i don't usually stay in them), so maybe it's worth a look?
