Hi everyone,

I've had my 05 plate mini Cooper s up for sale for a few weeks but I haven't had that much interest considering the age and condition and price. Mine is one of, if not THE cheapest 05 on here.

Any ideas as to lack of interest or is it just a quiet market??

Do you have a link? Cooper S' seem to have taken a plunge recently not sure if it's the price of fuel or tax that's doing it.
Coopers are holding their value much better.

Seems like it's well priced to me, the mileage is a little high for a 5 year old Mini but not excessive.
Paint colour is not to my liking but there are loads around in that colour so it must be quite popular.

Parkers say the following plus you need to add a bit of the Chilli pack and LSD.

""Guide Price
View example
A car's value is directly affected by its mileage and fitted options, anywhere from £100 to £10,000.
Original Price £15,185 Help Button
Franchised Dealer £8,275 Help Button
Independent Dealer £7,955 Help Button
Private Good £7,480 Help Button
Private Poor £6,265 Help Button
Part Exchange £6,680 Help Button
Adjust for mileage and options for an accurate price.
Average mileage 50,000
Options fitted None""

I'd try eBay and definately Autotrader. You can also put it in Modern Mini magazine for free http://www.modernmini.co.uk/

Can't see any reason for you to not get buyers turning up.

Lastly, go to www.webuyanycar.com see what they offer. It at least will give you an idea of a low trade in price.

Is it being affected by R56's I wonder. What is an early R56 S retailing for?

'Private plate not included'

I always walk away when reading this, as it's another hoop to jump through. Never done it before, have no idea how difficult it might be (how long DVLA would take to send new details so I could actually _drive_ the shiny new purchase), etc. No, much easier to move to the next ad.

Agree totally with the comments about the private plate. I always ask myself, if it's not included then why has it not been changed before advertising. You just know it'll be a world of pain.

The other issue is location, I'm afraid.

Can be done - I have done it myself in leaving changing a private plate over on the day before selling a car, it meant poping into london to the DVLA office and doing it over the counter.

They try to give you the cars original reg number back or an alternative year related number if not available for what ever reason, cost of transfer fee & retention fee for the private plate etc.

If you have your 'new' car for the plate to go on to then its a simple £80 fee but the paperwork (both V5's and MOT's) have to go off to the DVLA (7-10day turnaround)

If you put the plate on retention to speed up the process (i.e no 'new' car yet) then its more expensive as there is a cost for the 'retention' and then a cost to put it on the car.

Just had to go through the process with my Discovery 3 (old and new)

To be honest once you have done it a few times and understand the process and forms its very easy

thanks very much for the feedback everyone,

as it goes the private plate was already off the car, i was just being lazy and using the photos i took when the p/plate was still on.

I have amended the advert now to show this, see what difference it makes although the interest has started up again in the car.
