Hi,

So up until now I havent felt the urge to have a rant on PH. Today though, i'm in a bad mood and after having two incidents today it has riled me up enough to vent on here.

These were at the hands of two motorists, both on roundabouts. One, a clueless halfwit who I genuinely don't think knows the rules of the road. The second a complete and utter gammon slipper who should be taken off the roads, and I really don't doubt he met his commupance further on his journey this evening.

On my way to work, I pull up at a roundabout, on the RHS of my lane, as im taking the third exit. Although not really enough room, a mondeo squeezes up my left.. assumingly turning left or going straight ahead. he doesnt pull of at the first exit, nor the second, but decides to casually cut infront of me at the third, with no indication almost pushing me onto the verge in the middle of the two carrdige ways. Now, this was all at slow speed, so not particullary dangerous, but absaloutly awful, clueless driving.

Number Two. Imagine, if you will, a classic four road roundabout, upon the crest of a hill. two roads run along the crest up to the roundabout. Therefore a flat road, and one road approaches going up hill, with a corner just before the 'bout, making left and right completely blind until you are about 1-2 meters from the roundabout itself. I'm am on my way home from work, approaching the 'bout driving along the crest of the hill. I approach the 'bout slowley, look right, nothing at all so i proceed (as well as not having a good view when driving up the hill, you cant see much when looking down the hill either). Out of nowhere some complete charlie (doing est. 40-50mph) comes screeching round the corner and onto the roundabout slamming on his brakes, and swerving behind me. He even has the audacity so give me a good horning. This really boiled my piss. Some censoreds think they own the roads, and can drive however they like, at whatever speed without consquence, and if something happens to go wrong it is never their fault!

I have never caused issue on a roundabout, is it really that f'ing hard to get a grasp of how they should be used!!

Rant over. I feel better now.

5/10 - Not enough swearing, but extra points for 'a good horning' biggrin

EDIT - Completely missed 'gammon slipper' 6/10

Not a fan of blocks of texts with loads of censored smilies in it, hence using gammon slipper etc instead.

Edit to fix spelling

Give a clue to your preferred terminology?

I'd prefer pink oboeist, but that has fallen out of fashion.

I'm a fan of the term "gammon slipper", but not the grade of growler that it refers to. I took Urban sports's post to mean he like a bit of gammon slipper, rather than liking the term. If you want a good definition, urban dictionary refers to it as a gammon wallet:

I once had a woman ona 2 lane round-a-bout Come up behind me in the inside line (I was on the outside) and she wanted to turn off just as i was going past her exit, so instead of waiting, or going round again (She was going pretty quickly, so was obviously needed to press the big red button to stop the world exploding or something) she just turned anyway, right in front of me.

Problem was, i was already next to her exit, so as she cut in front of me, and i slammed on my breaks, she went straight over one of those big, hard to miss, plastic bollard things.

And just kept driving, even with the bollard wedged under her car...

If she didn't acknowledge her mistake, then it didn't happen! hehe

I don't think I've ever posted a rant. I'll have to have a look back through my history to make sure.
