Company car or do I take the allowance?

I'm weighing up a £28K co car allowance so A4 TDI affair or allowance which has not been discussed.
Two Q's

1) What is the equivlent allowance to a £28K budget...
2) How much do I get hammered on my salary (circa £50K) how the heck does all this
work....

I'm really none the wiser, having Google'd it to death...
