Managed to wangle a drive at Dunkersfield airfield at the weekend. When I put my foot to the floor it would only do about 125mph, but if I lifted off then planted the right boot again it would contiue to climb upto about an idicated 145ish.

Any idea why its doing this? It used to do 140+ no problem just keeping my foot to the floor, I didnt have to lift off at all. This is a 4.0 car btw.

Perhaps a sticking throttle... take the air pipe off the plenum and get a friend to floor the throttle (engine off ..!) - do you get full throttle everytime - is the cable loose / frayed..

(Sorry, typo, Dunkeswell). They have had a lot of problems up there recently with trespassing and people getting their cars onto the airfield at night. The local karting club have often been blamed when infact its nothing to do with them. I did have (kinda unofficial) permission to use it purely to test the problem on my car but only for about 15 minutes as it is still an operational airfield and apparently they usually have at least 15 minutes radio warning of any incomming aircraft. Suffice to say my influential boss has lived just down the road from the airfield for 25 years and knows someone with a set of gate keys
