Insurance at 27??
Discussion
I think a lot of this will depend on where you live. I was 27 when I got my V8V last year and with just 2 years NCB and 3 points I was paying £900. That was just doing a search on one of the internet comparison sites. Helped living just outside a quiet-ish town in the Cotswolds though.
Live in Germany now = mega expensive insurance!
Admiral were best for me in the UK though.

Hi Mike, I'm 26 and recently got a V8 - I found that the cheapest insurance was admiral, even after I added all the various 'modifications' (i.e. optional extras - and you have to be careful with admiral as they won't cover the car like-for-like if you don't tell them about all the optional extras). I also got decent quotes from direct line, and RSA through adrian flux (see sticky topic) - although I think adrian flux stopped dealing with RSA soon after and AF's next best quote was terrible!
However, what I'm imagining your problem is is that you're putting in a car value of greater than £50k (I'm assuming here). A lot of insurers wouldn't insure me for a penny over £50k - think it was the policy of most general insurers to not look at business for cars like that (regardless of age I think) and so you'd need to go to a specialist (off the top of my head A-Plan, Footman James, Adrian Flux - lots of topics on PH recommending insurers).
I'd suggest trying to get insurance for a £50k valuation to at least see if that's what's causing you problems. If it is then you know to go with a specialist. For reference, I'm 26 with 7 years NCB and my fiancé on the policy and ended up paying £1,300.

Speak to insurancejon on here as now got fleet cover due to a load of other cars/vans on and he is allot cheaper than other quotes we got.
Helps hes a petrol head with a R8!

Hi Guys,
Ever so sorry to hijack this thread but what on earth do all you twenty year olds do for a living to be able to drive aston's?
Many Thanks,
Mike.
I sell capital medical equipment and have made some great bets on the stock market here in the US (Ford, Apple, JPM). Stock gains more than paid for the car cash. The rest invested Ever so sorry to hijack this thread but what on earth do all you twenty year olds do for a living to be able to drive aston's?

I found it tricky to get insurance... my car was parked on street in London and i was 29 and only been driving for less than a year (so no no claims)... however on a 2 car policy with Admiral it was £2k (with a 10yr old Audi estate - which was my first car!) adding another £900.. to be honest i was more shocked by the incremental insurance on the audi....

Hi Mike
I bought my v8v when I was 29 last year. Its parked in an off street car park in a decent area and managed to get it insured through A-Plan for £1000 fully comp. I had 4 years NCB that I transferred over from the policy I have with my ST220 and 6 points on my licence. A-Plan were certainly the most helpful of the different insurers that I called.
Hope this helps.
