Off to the new forest this weekend, any advise on Restaurants and places to go. We've been a few times before, so know some places to go, but would like to see some new stuff.

TIA.

Alice Lyle near Ringwood is under new ownership and has improved significantly from last year.

Had our Wedding reception there in 2000, fab location! Bumpy track to get to it though.

Il Palio 2 Italian restaurant in Brockenhurst - by the station. Had lunch there yesterday, very nice.

recommend La Pergola italian restaurant in Lyndhurst, not cheap but awesome food, the sweet and puddings are just jaw dropping.

Don't forget to visit Meridien Modena Ferrari/Masser dealers in Lyndhurst, top dribbling to be had here.
Careys manor/Rhinefield house are top quality hotels, both have v good reputations for food as well.
Brockenhurst is a good village to have wander around, most of the pubs are pretty good to be honest, the Owl and Otter sanctuary (near Ashurst) is nice if you like animals and stuff.
a few of the carparks have a bit of a reputation for group voyeurism of the Canine variety in the evenings as they are nice and remote, apart from that it's great.

it has been known, not exactly big corporate events with banners and refreshments, but the locals know which carparks are quiet enough.

Hmmm - not sure I agree there unless it's changed hands recently. We stayed there in Oct 2008, and ate there one night. Very unimpressed.

Stuff looking at fluffy animals and trees, spend the morning after brekkie drooling around Meridian Modena and then back to the spa, pay for the upgrade to get in to the proper bit and after a light lunch in the (Thai/Japanese can never remember) eatery thing there spend the afternoon dreaming of how to pull off a bank job to buy most of Meridian's stock yes

You'd pay for the upgrade? Isn't that why you sit on the chairs until someone swipes in and you follow them in? hehe

I'll be paying a visit to Meridian Modena, are they happy with people wondering about? Suppose they will never know I can't afford any one of them.

The spa in Carey's manor is superb. Do they still have the huge bucket of ice cold water you can empty over your head?

We ate at both restaurants in Carey's manor, both very good, but the Thai one did it for me.
Also the Indian in Brockenhurst was pretty good too.

The Master Boat Builders Hotel in Bucklers Hard is nice for a good meal, eat outside in summer if it's warm enough, a bit expensive but very good food.

If you look south down the river, have a look for 'Scant Reward' and give us a wave. wavey
