The wife and I was wondering where the bargain parts of the world are nowadays(if any!)We've been here in Turkey www.lykiaworld.com with the kids (7 and 9)several times over the last few years, but the prices have steadily risen,to the point that the hidden gem feeling has gone which is a shame. Are there any particular parts of the world at the moment where you still get really good value for your money on holiday?

Went to tenerife with the girlfriend end of March - prices were very good indeed. 25euros for 3 course meal with drinks every night at nice restaurants.

Prices have gone down as the euro's gone up to ensure brits keep going back.

I go in three weeks, I'm there when England play the USA, I don't think it will get even so-much as a mention on any of the 8 billion TV stations they have. Will have to keep going into the Apple shop pretending to look remotely interested just so I can log onto the web and watch it from there. smile

I went to Florida during the 1990 cup.
The hotel posted a sheet with results on the notice board every day (that was the only hint you had to a world cup being played).

Still lots of Brits about (if you were trying to escape them).

Actually, for the price of a family holiday in Europe at the moment, you could just buy Greece. I expect you'd get a good deal if you took the islands too.

Then split it up, asset strip, and sell it on next year when things improve.

Expect to see Greece on ebay in the next few days.

Eygpt is where your money goes further, they are outside the Eurozone. You can get some excellent deals to Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada - The 4 and 5 star hotels are excellent and good activities for children,

Personally I still think Turkey provides fantastic VFM if you don't want to travel outside of Europe.

Mexico, Cancun.

2 weeks all inclusive, 4 star place £749 per person including flights and transfers.

Maybe not the cheapest but it's nice, the women are nice and the airport etc is nice. There is no trouble. Egypt and Turkey are cheap but let's face it they are st holes and the food is inedible.
