disk failure "found" folders??

Had a disk fail on windows 2000 server and its recovered ok part from some files n folders are missing but the ones that are all seem to be in found.001 folder??? is it safe to move these files back from there or are they corrupted files which should be restored from backup and the found folder deleted?

They are recovered files. Usually the ones that are left open when the hw dies.

Should be OK to put them back.

I've done it that way on a couple of XP pro desktop PCs, but on a server, I would recommend a proper recovery i.e. full restore to a known good backup.

Depends on the level of risk you are prepared to accept I guess. Any file could be corrupted, and you have no real way of knowing.
