...and it needs some new rear brake pads. Given the ludicrous amount of dosh they want to replace them, there is no reason at all to take it the BMW/MINI to do the work is there? I have a good reputable garage to do the work, and he assured me my warranty wouldn't be affected - I'm sure he's right, but I though i'd double check.

Opinions appreciated.

Any VAT registered garage will be fine to keep your warranty intact.

There was a ruling by the OFT (I think) about this a few years ago as the main dealers were running a bit of a racket saying you must get all work done at them to maintain the warranty.

Same goes for servicing.

What he said. They probably wouldn't ever know so long as all the bits have BMW stamped on them. Don't even have to have it serviced by BMW to keep the warrenty. But non BMW stamps in the book will reduce their inclination to offer "good will" should your engine go bang 500 miles out of warrenty.

Rear pads however...they would never know to even question it.
