Hello local chaps

Just picked up a brand new MX5 and am looking to get the front of it protected with armourfend. Are there any recommended installers in the area?

How long does that stuff last though? If it has to be replaced after a few years then it won't be any cheaper than getting the front resprayed...

I'm not sure how long it lasts - I've not seen it mentioned. However it will protect the front from unsightly chips - I'd rather spend the money up front for protection than retrospectively for a respray having endured the front looking like its been shotgunned. The car is brilliant black.

I've done a fair amount of digging and plenty of Porsche/Loti owners have it fitted so I haven't any concerns really. Just want to keep the paint tip top!

The only reason I say that is because I've seen a Mk3 with that on it and the coating itself was chipped & marked by stones. It did protect the paintwork but it would cost around £200 to replace it - pretty much the same as a respray.
Maybe he was just unlucky though. The stuff seems to sell well so it must be better than that.

I recently had it fitted to the nose of my Elise. Cost an arm and a leg as I had it fitted at the bodyshop that resprayed the car so incurred a call out charge for the Armourfend fitter to come and do it. Is much cheaper to take the car to them but you run the risk of picking up chips on the way!

I've read another Elise owner state the film was still in good condition after 55k and 7yrs on his car.

Cheers John. Architecht - they look like wrapping firms rather than clearcoat protection films? I've googled a bit, and PH'd a bit and found a few places. Will make some calls and see what's up.

have a chat with the guys at Paintshield, they did the front of my 360 and after about 20k miles and 4 euro trips it still looks good and has saved the paintwork from chips just like it should
