Station Shed Suggestions (another what car thread)

OK - plotting a new motor for the job of daily station runs. Looking for suggestions based on my requirements to see if there is anything I have overlooked.

Station Shed Rules
1. Station Shed sleeps indoors, but sits in a station car park by day (so can be something older / more exotic as it will be pampered but it has to be relatively reliable transport).
2. Station Shed will not be a derv and can have any size engine.
3. Station Shed will have at least 4 seats, but only 2 doors.
4. Station Shed can be as old as you like.

Total budget runs to around 4k, and my starting suggestions are :

- Saab 900 (original) 3 door coupe T16
- Rover P5B Coupe
- Land Rover Defender

BMW E30 325, MK1/2 Golf GTI, possibly a BMW 635 but you may struugle to find a nice one.

Don't use a Defender as a Station Shed. It will get stolen.

Thanks some good suggestions, like the idea of a 635, assuming I could find a decent one - hadn't thought of that.

Interesting point about defenders - are they that nickable?
